How to Kill Bed Bugs

If you have found where the bed bugs have been living, do what you can to get rid of them. If they have infested your mattress or other furniture, consider whether or not to discard the items.

If you have found bed bugs elsewhere, there are several methods you can use to get rid of the bugs. Remember, though, that this will not remove all bugs, and that bed bug eggs are particularly difficult to find and remove.

You can use the sticky side of tape or hand-pick bed bugs. You can brush them into a bowl or bucket of rubbing alcohol or soapy water.

You can also do site-specific vacuuming. You ideally want to use a high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtered vacuum. Remove the head or brush of the vacuum and use the suction end to scrape areas that have bed bugs.

For all of these methods, be careful to dispose of the bed bugs in a sealed trash bag.
